David Strictland

I was born and raised in Windsor, Ontario where I received my basic formation in the Fine Arts. After completing my M.A. studies at Laval University in Quebec City, I remained there for over 30 years before moving to Saint John, N.B.  It was during that long period that I developed my own special style in Wildlife Art.  Even though my major works are done in oil or acrylic, I also do many smaller works in watercolor. My formal art studies have been done mainly at the Centro de Arte in Spain and the Escuela de Bella Artes (Guatemala).  I return regularly to those communities to participate in workshops. Although most of my paintings are completed in Canada. their inspiration comes from annual excursions into the jungles of Guatemala, Costa Rica & Mexico.  Other strong inf1uences on my work come from various African safaris, the Highlands of Spain, and the South of France.
